I was cruising down the highway yesterday at what we'll call a good clip and I heard the chime from the dash with the check engine light on. Truck ran fine for another 50 miles to my destination. When I was leaving today the light was still on so I shut it down and pulled off the box putting on the bypass plug. The light was still on so I drove for 40 miles with it on and then shut the truck down and put the xzt back on. Light is still on any suggestions?

Check for codes using the key on method and let us know what it is. I still get codes with mine on occasion as well, usually when towing. The CEL will go away after a number of starts.

How do I do that?

Turn the key from off to on 3 times (without starting). On the 3rd time, leave it on. It will cycle through any codes you have and display "done" when complete.

if the problem that set the light(could have just been a nuisance light, or a small glitch) is not still causing a fault code, the light will go away after several startup/heat up/cool down cycles. take a few days.
