Check engine light - will it go off on its own?
I have couple of codes that were probably transient (0191 and 0514) which threw a check engine light. Assuming there is no real problem and the fault isn't persistent, will the CEL go off on its own? I read somewhere that 3 cycles of the ignition will clear it. But, it has been many more than that since this happened and the CEL is still on.
Do I need to go to Autozone and clear the codes to get the light to go off (don't have the Smarty Jr. yet)?

The CEL will normally go out after 4 or 5 start/run sequences if the reason it was set is no longer present.
The reason for the CEL and codes may still be there, if so it will stay on or turn back on.

Thanks for the reply. I will keep driving it normally. If there is a problem, it doesn't appear to be affecting the way it runs. If the light doesn't clear in the next week or so, I'll clear the codes at Autozone. If they come back on, that will pretty much tell me something is wrong and off to the dealer I go.

HAHA!!! 2 hours after my last post, I started up my truck to go home and the CEL was off. Talk about timing. So, now I'm in wait/see mode. If it persists, I'll take it to the dealer and get it checked. But, both of those codes are known to be occasional false readings.
