Check Engine Codes - How do you clear them?
I just bought a 1992 that had several Check Engine codes. Now that I'm fixing the problems, how do I delete them? Should they just clear themselves, or do I need to manually remove them? Is it as simple as disconnecting the battery or a fuse for 15-30 seconds??
Not really important, but the codes where 12, 15, 23, 55.
Codes:
11 No Crank Speed sensor signal during cranking
12 Battery connection disturbed within the last 50 starts
15 No signal from VSS (Auto or Cruise Control equipped only)
22 Coolant temp sensor shorted or open (Auto only)
23 Air temp sensor shorted or open
24 TPS shorted or open (Auto only)
33 A/C clutch relay shorted or open
34 Cruise control shorted or open (cruise control equipped only)
41 Generator field not switching properly
42 ASD relay (charging circuit supply) shorted or open, or no ASD voltage at PCM
45 OD solenoid shorted or open (Auto only)
46 Charging system voltage too high
47 Charging system voltage too low
53 Internal PCM failure
62 same

The check engine light has NEVER been on when the truck is running. But when I bought the truck (mind you 3 hours away from the house and I drove it home), there was obviously things wrong with the truck. The VSS wasn't hooked up since the wiring harness got damaged and the OD, Cruise & Speedo didn't work. (got that fixed). And the previous owner disconned the power to the KSB solenoids (got that fixed). So for kicks when I got home before I fixed anything, I ran the codes even though the check engine light was off and it came up with the ones I listed above. and after I fixed those two items so far, it still brings up the same codes.
Anyways thats why I'm curious if I have to clear them of if I still have problems. Just curious if there is a way I can reset the computer that keeps track of the codes...

OBDII didn't start until '96. Your reader will not work.
The DRB plug is near the driver's side hood hinge. It's an "L" shaped connector that's not plugged into anything.
I have an old Auto X-Ray scan tool I picked up at a yard sale that will talk to mine.
