Changed power steering pump fluid.....
I was bored last night and had the materials on hand so using a turkey baster I sucked out as much fluid as I could. I pulled as much out as I could, sticking the tip of the baster into the hose as far as it would go, and ended up getting 16 oz. out of the reservoir. Refilled the reservoir with fresh Valvoline ATF+4.
The fluid looked burnt and had a bit of that burnt smell. Steering has never been an issue with my truck but I have had 35" or larger tires for 25,000 miles or so. The front end of these trucks is heavy so it may be worth checking yours.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. I did it the second day I had it however. I sucked out the mopar and out in the amsoil. Each time I have checked it it looks fine.

I did this a while back too. However, I pulled the hoses off the bottom of the reservior and got considerably more fluid out. Don't know what the capacity of the system is, but I guess I replaced about a quart of fluid. Had better steering AND brake response afterward.

I did the same thing this past weekend. I bought one of those cheapie suction pumps from harbor frieght and sucked the old out(16oz) and filled it back up.
Old fluid was kind of a redish brown color @ 55k miles(and I dont its every been changed), wasnt too bad though.

Heck of a lot easier (for me) than sucking the fluid out with a pump. Drop two lines, dump the oil, back on, fill up and done. Get more fluid out as well. Plus there is a screen that you run the risk of damaging if you're not careful.

Best way is put the front axle on jack stands and pull the hoses at the cooler. Refill, start motor and turn wheel to stops a couple of times. Gets the air out. Also mod the cap while your at it. There is a one way flapper like rubber nipple inside. You'll see if you manage to seperate the cap from the stick without breaking it Cut it back so to the pump can vent pressure.
