Change rear diff fluid

How many quarts of fluid does it take to change the rear fluids? I can not seem to find it in the owners manual. I use the truck to pull a landscape trailer short distances and wanted to change to synthetic. Any suggestions?

Re:Change rear diff fluid

Your truck shouda shipped with synthetic. I estimate it holds about 7 to 8 pts. I filled mine, set each side on an incline for 10 minutes, then checked it again. About 1/4" below the fill hole will get it. No need for additive to antispin gear (if an AA axle - an '03). If you are towing heavy loads, you may want to jump up to 75W140 GL5 synthetic. The manual says 75W90 GL5 synthetic.
