Having owned and sold a '99 7.3 DRW Ford Superduty crew cab and with my wife running around in a '00 Excursion with a 7.3, when it cam time to order a new truck, I was ready to plunk down the cash on a Blue Oval 6.0 PSD.<br><br>I also qualify for the X plan and have not had to negotiate a truck price in the past eight years.<br><br>Well, a 2003 CTD HO DRW SLT or Laramie is looking mighty good to my eye. I don't like the smaller crewcab compared to the Ford, but I can live with it as I'm doing the driving.<br><br>With Ford it was easy. With Dodge, do I start at factory invoice and where do I go from there? Clue me in guys as the local dealer wants $1500 over invoice on Dodge trucks on his lot, although I hear invoice or less than invoice around the country. I know there is a $2k rebate in our area although it's $2500 in some other places.<br><br>BTW, I live in Mountain Home, Arkansas, just 40 miles from Brian's Truck Shop, but I don't mind driving. I've racked up 1200 miles this past week. Little Rock twice, Tulsa and Poplar Bluff! <br><br>Any advice gratefully recieved.<br><br><br>

Every area seems to be little different. I've heard of some who got their trucks at $500 below invoice. In my neck of the woods, $500 over invoice isn't difficult to get.<br><br>Rod

Try this if you like the dodge but can get a good price on the ford. Go to the ford ******* and ask about their price. Then go to dodge and explain that you would like to by the dodge for the same price. Sooner or later you’ll find a good dealer that will meet or beat fords price just to convert you from the dark side. Good luck

If you can justify a trip to Texas, they go cheaper there. It's a market demand thing. You might let your fingers do the walking once you determine what color/options you want, then when you find it in Texas, for the right price, buy it and make one trip to go get it.<br>I'm sure some of our Texas members can recommend, or NOT recommend some dealers for you to call.<br><br>As far as determining what options you want, go to your local dealer and do everything short of signing the papers with him. It might seem dirty, but he won't come off the price so you gotta look out for your interests.<br><br>Chris

The good news is that Lucas is not that far away, the bad news is he has just one on the lot.

With Ford, X-plan gave me 3% under factory invoice, no dicker. Or, if I wanted a second vehicle and did not have a PIN for X-plan available, Ford allowed us a $500 rebae as we are members of the AQHA (American Quarter Horse Assoc.)

Are there any back doors or rebates not commonly known about that are available? I just priced out a fully equipped 3500 Laramie and the price came out to $45k! I genuinely don't want a PSD this time around.

Having recently purchased my truck I found one of the best tools I could have used was the Internet. There are many sites that will provide you with dealer invoice prices, (and also the vehicle option prices as well). <br><br>The $1500 over invoice seems a bit steep, for me, when you consider that the dealer will also be gaining from Dodge the &quot;holdback&quot; money as well. I have found this can be anywhere between 3% and 5% of the invoice amount depending upon where the vehicle is purchased. In addition to this throw in the rebate, if it used towards the purchase and the dealer has made a nice little profit.<br><br>I'm not saying to try and rip the dealer off, just try and make a wise purchase. With the way new vehicle sales have been lately the dealer should be willing to work with you. Truck sales have been fair, however the dealer has to consider all the other inventory they are holding in stock as well, and should be willing to work towards a fair price. <br><br>On my purchase I took copies of the invoice I pulled from the net and I was up front with my sales person about this. I told them what I was willing to buy the truck for and they told me what they would sell for. We settled with both sides happy within an hour. This was the easiest vehicle deal I have made, and I credit being informed and doing my research for this.<br><br>Good luck!

Read this post by PwrRam, carefully. He MAY be of some assistance if you contact him. He certainly was a help to me. I was able to order a new 3500 for 1% under invoice using the friends program. ;D ;D ;D

(Oh and I had an X-plan pin from Ford also and was thinking of getting a new 6.0, I think we are making the more informed choice here. )

Also there is an auto dealership advertising on ebay that is offering to sell at invoice minus half the holdback for any truck on their lot or on an ordered unit!!!! They are in N.C. but I didin't keep the link since mine is already on order. You might try them as well.

Bartlesville, OK isn't all that far from you. Mark Roberts sells for invoice. http://www.markroberts.com/ Apparently an idiot does their website; the Cummins is listed as a V6.

BTW, X-plan should have given you a price slightly under invoice. 3% off MSRP is NOT X-plan. Invoice is something like 8-10% less than sticker, sometimes even less.

I've changed the post to reflect the correct information.<br><br>I've contacted Mark Roberts in Bartlesville by email as it's unclear if the prices advertised included the rebates or not. Do you know one way or the other?<br><br>Unfortunately I don't know any DC workers, so the 'Friends' program seems out of reach for me.

Another one to check would be Melton Dodge/Chrysler out in (somewhat) central Oklahoma. You can look at their inventory at http://www.meltonsales.com. I hold no interest in their company, but when I bought my 98, if I had been able to afford a new one, I would have given more than serious consideration to Melton.

Go here http://www.meltonsales.com/ They are outside Tulsa and sell no Haggle. They will give you the best price in the country. The truck you are looking at will sell for $6300 under list. So a $40,000 truck will sell for $34,000. That includes all of the rebates except Farm Bureau which is another $500 off that price. Good luck. I am not connected to Melton Dodge in anyway.
