Center Caps

Okay guys I need a little help. I bought take off tires and wheels to replace the tires on my 1998 2500 ram. The wheels fit wonderful, but the center caps don't fit the rear hubs. After much frustration and a little imagination, I discovered that the rear axle bolts hit the inside of the center cap. I sweet talked a friend and he let me see if the center cap off his 94 2500 ram would work and they do. So can someone tell me what changed after the 2002 model?????? Thought that stopping at a dealer might help, boy was I wrong. Asked the salesman if I could look at a hub on a 2007 but he could not figure out how to get the center cap off. So again did they change the bolt design, the hub or I am I just blonde?

Please help

now, they may be a different cap due to the different offset and thicker material of the alloy wheels vs. the steelies
