Cental Coast, California Transmission Shop

Cental Coast, California Transmission Shop
I am looking for a good transmission shop that can either build me or install a strong aftermarket transmission for my 2001 cummins.
I have a warranty through complete car care that will warrant service from any ASE certified mechanic. The ideas is to replace the transmission through the warranty, but I would like to pay the extra money to upgrade to a stronger tranny w/ billet input/output/intermediate shafts.
I have found one shop close to me in salinas, but they want 4-5000 for a BD transmission. This seems a little pricey and I think the BD transmission will be a little weak for my needs.

I live 10 miles south west of King City. King City is 30 miles south of Salinas, and 30 miles north of Paso Robles. I have friends in places all across cali though, so A couple day trip to a friends and a new tranny wouldn't be a bad vacation.

1st off welcome to the DTR! Try North County Diesel in Paso Robles, ph #(805) 239-4324. There is a guy/shop in Paso if I'm not mistaken that works on out CTDs.
-2ndly, @ the end of every month the Central Calif. DTR chapter #27 has a monthly brwakfast. This month it will be in Pismo Beach/Arroyo Grande. We haven't set a eat'n place yet, but it will be Saturday the 29th @ 8:30am.

I did check with north county diesel in paso, but I believe they only install the BD stuff as well. They didn't seem to interested in talking to me anyways, and that is all it usually takes for me to take my business eslewhere.
Anyone heard of Windspeed performance out of Martinez, CA. I got a reply on pavementsucks.com about this shop. Said they install Suncoast products, which has a good reputation if I am not mistaken.
I will try and meet up with you guys in Pismo on the 29th. I need to check my schedule. Email me when you decide on a location.

Sorry to hear that about North County. How do you feel about an ATS trans. I have a friend here in San Luis that is an ATS dealer and he may be interested in taking your extended warranty. Who is your extended warranty through?
I'll PM you with the location in the next week or 2 on the location.

The warranty is through "complete care." I have heard bad things about ATS, but am not totally convinced they are crap. I know that they take forever to deliver parts and customer support isn't so good. Does he deal with any other trans companies. I love San Luis Obispo- I went to college there.
