I don't see why not. As long as you have the harness that plugs into the radio, it should be fairly simple to wire it into the 97's harness.

DC hasn't changed their radio harness in quite a while, I would think it would work just fine (my '97 Intrepid was identical to my '01.5 RAM). If you are going between premium and not premium sound systems you may have an issue.

Do you know what the difference between premium and the regular system is? My 1997 just has a radio with a cassette. The one I was going to buy was out of a 2001. It had a CD player and Cassette. Owner wanted $165, do you think that is too much or is it a good price.

The difference is the premium (Infinity) system has out board amps that power the speakers and the harness is probably different (honestly I've never had one so can't say for sure).

$165 for a stock radio out of an '01 is a complete ripoff! You can go after market for that price and have a much improved system. Check eBay, you can probably pick one up for less than $50 bucks....or hit a boneyard, probably even less there.

Check the classifieds here and other Dodge sites.
Many put in an aftermarket head unit and have their OEM for sale.

You could even put in a "Wanted" ad saying you are looking for one.

well, I looked at doing this also, as I had a line on a indash factory 6 disch changer from a newer model truck.

1) the wiring harnesses are different, way different.

2) the newer style radio will not fit the older style dash without some serious modifications.

The above reasons are why I decided to pass.

You need to also know if you have the infinity system or not.

Good Luck
