I will explain this thread so people can learn from it. I cracked the fuel filter test port on my 1999 dodge diesel by overtightening the plug when threading the plug back in the test port. this all started because my truck started surging and loosing power. I performed a fuel leak test to see if air was entering the fuel lines and it was. When I replaced the plug I used a socket that covered the plug so I didn't visualized how far I tightened it.
