Did a search for an hour and had no results. Question is did my 01 come with one? Thanks.

98.5 thru 02 didn't have cats. Maybe the Calif. trucks, but not the regular version.

I didn't have a cat on my 02, but I did have a resignator with my muffler.

2nd gen 24 valve trucks did NOT come with a catalytic convertor. They came with a resonator and a muffler. No smog emission equipment.

No. Neither of those components have anything to do with emissions.

Kinda, it's an opacity/smoke particle count test at idle speed on '01's and earlier. '02 & newer gets the OBDII diag. port plugin.
P-pump 12 valvers & CR's require cats in a few counties.

Really? So they actually use a device to measure instead of just a visual test? And with the '02's and newer, do they do the same as the earlier models but also the OBDII?

Yup, the opalcity device "sees" particles in the exhaust stream...looks like a big MAF sensor.
The test dude said a stack is ok as long as they can easily attach the device.
The '02 & newer gets the OBDII port plug-in, no opalcity.
All get a mirror under the truck visual check. No hood opening.
