Went and picked up some CAT fuel filters for my GDP kit and noticed they had their brand of CI4+ 15/40 oil for 13.00 a gallon. Was wondering if anybody was or has used it? I currently run the JOhn Deere +50 CI4 with good results but this stuff might be a tad bit better?

John Deere is changing to CJ blend. I wouldn't be surprized if CAT wasn't changing soon too.

Im sure it's a good oil though.

The TBN of the CAT oil is 11.3, if I remember correctly the TBN on the JD CI+4 was up over 13. It was a very good oil, much better than the new JD Plus 50 II oil.

If you can find the regular plus 50 grab it up.

Actually since Cat is dropping, or should I say dropped, the on-highway market I would expect them to continue making CI oil for their off-highway motors.

I would have thought the same thing about JD. They only make off-highway vehicles too, right?

I guess it depends on who makes their oil for them.

Exxon Mobil currently manufactures the Caterpillar DEO 15/40 oil for the N.A. region.

I don't know that it matters if it is on road or off anymore as DPF's are coming on off road equipment soon.
