Re:Cat 1160 replace?
Why do I get the feeling that this is one of those "If you have to ask you can't afford it" deals?
Sorry, couldn't resist......
I am thinking that if it is a sleeved motor and the crank and block are still good it is going to be much cheaper to rebuild than replace. My understanding is that most of the time on engines of this type the block and crank are very expensive and if the damage is bad enough to take one of them out then a new (or used) motor is more cost-effective.
Don't quote me as I haven't dealt with Cat motors in about 10 years, price subject to change, offer void where prohibited, not to be used by people taller than 5'3",......

Interesting question, do you have one and it is dying and what HP/TQ rating is it. This would be the predecessor to the 3208 V8 that is now obsolete, give us more info and then we can help. PK

Have to watch that 1160 if crank is gone its worth alot of bucks. The old ford I drove they had to rebuild, exchange crank was about 4000.00 thats before you start tearing down.

1160+3208= Disposable engine(s), if the truck is worth anything and you need it to make money look for a Cummins B or Cat 3116. Yes we are talking a little more money but reliability is the key to profit, obsolete means cheap to buy expensive to fix. Don't want to be trashing a dream but check around Cat1160,3208, Cummins555,903 all like dinosaurs for a reason. PK
