carnage from the wall of shame...

this is the result of too much play... timing, pressure, duration and my foot ;-)
Definitely not something I'm proud of but, it's all a part of the game when you mod things or don't have supporting mods. Watch those EGT's ! :-)

What kind of EGT caused that? What boxes/programmer were you running and what mods etc.?

probably close to 2000F in the cylinder. EGT gauge was buried. Boxes may have contributed to the carnage but, me keeping my foot to the floor is what really did it. I was running a Smarty and TST. The stock turbo just could hang with the advanced settings, I pushed a little too far at the track and boom.

I would imagine the TST had a lot to do with it. They recently stopped selling them for '06.5+ trucks. There's warnings posted on some other forums about the TST melting pistons and stuff on the later trucks. I think VA just found problems with their new C5 on the '06.5+ too.

Possible but, I'm not blaming it or the smarty. The TST did work on my truck. I had run it for 6 months before this happen. I bought it before they stopped selling them for the 06.5/07

TST stated that if you run their box on those years using 2/0 it WILL melt your piston. Whether it will or not, it's not working right on some trucks and I believe since they can't control who their vendors sell to, a statement like that had to be made. People need to know to not buy it ....yet. If I had my way... I never would have gotten rid of it.

Between the Smarty and TST, I pushed to truck with more than it could handle in it's stock state. I may have be able to prevent it by letting out of the peddle but... that's like saying " I'm scared " ! :-)

Are you still worried about using the TST? It could still miss it up if there is something wrong with the box and your year of truck.

CTD Freak: yep, the innerds are there now but, it's not bullet proof. There's always the chance of it happening again. The silver lining may be this time I can go faster doing it Really though.... I'm going to take a little more care of this engine.

bsj04: Thanks ;-) on another note... if I took it back to the dealer, they wouldn't have built it back the way I wanted it. A oops like this can cost around 10 to 12K built back to stock specs. Built my way, 20K

haloman : TST was nice enough to refund my money for the box 6 months later because they still haven't been able to get to the bottom of it's programming for the later model 07's. Like I said.... it kills me to have had to give it up. It did all the right things. What will I use now to compare ????

That was stellar of them, it sounds like you might have to wait awhile until they get it all figured out. You'll be able to break-in your motor real well until you can really add the power on the plus side.

I'd like to think they'll get it worked out but, from what I understand... the 6.7L's are on the priority list I'll be first in line though if it's worked out.

Triton ,

I'll be using those pics in my next video.

I does suck, but you've got a great attitude about it.
