Exclamation Be careful with cooking oil

Always use a deep pot to deep fry stuff. I used a regular saucepan and when I put the fries in, the oil boiled over hit the heat element on the stove and started a flash fire. Lasted about a second. Good thing I keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen. I didn't have to use it but that little flash fire frieked me out. Be careful out there.

We had a family in military housing catch their kitchen on fire that way ... the day we were evacuating for one of the hurricanes. The hurricane missed us but this family had nothing to come home to anyway .

*** A note of caution with fire extinguishers and grease fires ... stand at least 3 feet away before you light the thing off. This is a pressurized gas that has the force to blow the grease all over you and everything else. I have seen people get right up on the fire and squeeze the handle and ended up with more issues than they started with.

Of course you want to try to smother a grease fire if you can.

When cooking please try not to let small children in the kitchen. Try to cook on the back burners and keep the handles turned away from little hands. Children will try to reach up and grab what they can’t see. They will be looking up and whatever is in the pot will be on their face. There is nothing more heartbreaking than a child getting hurt. I have seen it many times and it is terrible.

Also it is almost time to change the batteries in the smoke detectors. We change them in the fall and spring.
They will save your life.

Yes.

Change the clocks, fresh 9 volt's for the smoke detectors.
Makes remembering real easy.
