Can't be a steering issue?

2002 Ram 2500 4x4 CTD. - driving down the road it feels like I am driving in butter. The steering seems tight, and as long as I am on the freeway, or any somewhat smooth road, it drives fine. On unsmooth pavement, it feels like the truck is rocking side to side, as if the shocks were bad, but they are new. I saw the term "body roll" on some other posts, and if this is what I think it is, it describes what I am experiencing. Can someone please describe body roll for me?

Never noticed that on mine but I had a Cherokee one time with the solid front axle and I was told that it was normal with that type of front suspension. Almost makes your head feel like a bobble head.

how do you check the sway bar links to see if they need to be replaced?

Grab ahold of the links that connect the axle to the sway bar and try to shake them around. If they move around at the ball joint (or sqaush-bushing for older models) then you need new links. They tend to go bad around 70-100k if your lucky. Check the rear links too.

BTW, check the bushings the sway bar rides in. Polyethylene (I think?) bushings are the best, because they don't squash like rubber, and last quite a bit longer. That helped the rolling alot in my truck, along with new shocks. Good luck, but it will never ride like a caddy, especially with all that weight under the hood.
