Can't find 5/16 Square Socket for Adjusting Front Band on 47RE

I'm installing a Transgo TFOD-Diesel shift kit in my 97 2500 with 47RE and I need a square socket to adjust the Front Band but can't find one anywhere.

I have an eight point 5/16 box end wrench but that won't work as there are no corners on the square head of the adjusting screw. A open end 5/16 wrench fits it and it measures .312 which should be 5/16, but to get the adjustment correct I need a socket.

I've tried the local auto stores with no luck and can't find anything on the web, can someone please provide a link to an actual 5/16 square socket??

Please Help

Find one of the tool trucks , Snap On ect , yellow pages , then you make a meet the dealer & find what you need , make sure you ask if they have one on the truck .
If you gave your location , someone could give you a source .

Thanks for the link, hopefully I can find one locally. I had searched the SnapOn.com site and didn't see that socket.

Hey no problem, snap on's site is tough sometimes because they have "special" names for ordinary stuff, you wouldn't find anything if you searched "square sockets" because they have them labeled pipe plug. oh well...

Thats what I searched on and your correct I found nothing. Their website also showed no dealers for my zip code area but a call to their district office got me a few phone numbers and I found one who had it on his truck on the third call. Just came back from meeting the driver at one of his accounts and have it in hand.

Thanks again to all who responded.

Yeh, 11/32 12 pt fits perfectly, I also use this size for tapping holes in hard to reach places, as you can use unlimited extensions.

A square socket would be an 8 point. Craftsmen makes them. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...eyword=8+point

it aint that critical. snug it down with a wrench and back off 1.5 to 2 turns and it will work fine. i have done this for 40 years with NO problems.
