i was wondering if it would be easier to just remove the exhaust manifold and not the turbo? or do you have to remove both at the same time? thanks

Yes, you can, but I would support the turbo after you disconnect it from the manifold, like tie it up so that the exhaust does not have the weight on it.

Why are you removing the manifold? That might help answer your question better.

I changed my exhaust gaskets without pulling the turbo. You must support the turbo/exhaust, I used a floor jack...

why am i going to remove it i am either gonna get an aftermarket one or i am going to port the stock one. i ported the stocker on my first gen and it mad ea huge difference. egts didnt rise nearly as quick and spool up was right there, plus i might put a egt probe in

Yeah, just support it.

I just changed out my exhaust manifold installed an aftermarket header, I just put a jack stand under the turbo, did fine, didn't move, bolted up without any issues.

I bought an ATS and dropped 2psi of boost when cruising @ 70mph. The stocker is prone to crack. I would buy an ATS for that fact. I would hate to spend all that time and have it crack in the future. Ad Removed The manifolds off of the '06 and newer trucks are supposed to flow better at #5 cyl (correct me if I'm wrong) than the earlier ones and are not supposed to crack as easy. Have fun.

it really doesnt take all that long to port it out. prolly like 2 hours and was definitly worth it on my first gen

If your downpipe is still connected to that bracket bolted to the side of the bellhousing then I don't see why you would really need to support it. Nothing wrong with playing it safe though....
