I hear of a lot of earlier gen cummins mounting amps on the wall behind the rear seat. Is this possible with a 3rd gen? It seems pretty tight back there, but its possible that it tapers forward toward the front of the truck on the bottom. Hard to see. If anyone has any interesting amp mount location ideas for 03's, please throw em forward! Thanks!

hmm, interesting idea, never thought bout that for my 2nd gen. only concern would be how tight a fit is it? would there me enough ventilation for the fans?

its not for everyone but i removed my backseat and mounted the amp in between 2 sub boxes. if u look at bigblue's stuff on page 3 of the photos section its exactly like that

good luck, im sure some of the stereo gurus like sean and jamie will give u some good advice too

I have two amp's, a JL Audio 500 and a Rockford Power 500 going under each the front seats. I have not measured to see if a simple amp rack could be built to combine them under the power driver seat, but right now I'm still trying to figure out where to build the box for my 10" Eclipse Titanium sub.

You know, this is a good problem to have.

I am going to move my amps under the front seats...currently under the rear.
I am making a custom box under floor for my 12W7 to plumb into the area on the left side rear cubby hole. ;D

JL 300/4 is next to go with the Rockford 800 and the other amp. [laugh]

huh?

I won't put amps behind the seat...cannot adjust them plus the seat bottom cannot be flipped up since the amps take up the space where the seat retracts against the cab wall. At least they did on my 01.

I put my amp on the hump between the two rear cubby holes. I don't have the shelf under the rear seat so that may not work for all. I was able to fit the crossovers behind the back seat but they were pretty small.

CD changer and cobra remote cb went under drivers seat.

Not to mention the factory jack is under the front passenger seat. I'm not sure where they are finding room. If they are, it is definitely a tight fit, or the amp is very small.

Well I got such a good deal on a two week old JL audio stealthbox on ebay, it fits right under the back seat on the passenger side. Seat stays there etc, and it fits perfectly in that underseat storage. I have an amp left over from the JL stealth box in my last vehicle(they sound great), so I figured why let the amp go to waste, might as well get the stealth box and use the amp... Well this amp mounting is proving trickier than I thought ;D Half inclined to sell the stealthbox and say forget it, but they do sound so good!

Scotty how do you plan on fitting anything under that seat bigger than a tiny amp?

I mounted a JL Audio 500/5 behind the seat (had to remove one of the vents) a JL Audio stealthbox and new speakers and cd player. incredible sound in my 04.

I have a dual 10" sealed enclosure under the rear seat from Moose Audio. (2) Infinity Reference 10's dvc powered by 450x1 RMS amp under driver's seat. 6 inch Infinity Reference in all doors with 65x4 RMS amp and capaciter under Passenger seat. I had to remove the jack and put it in the tool box...

I have built many stereos in the past...and this has to be one of the sweetest sounding, best looking/fitting ever...

I put a 10" kicker sub under the rear passenger seat in a Q-logic box and mounted 2 kicker amps under the driverside rear seat by cutting a board to cover the factory storage area.

my sub amp is under the center console. I do not have the hidden storage area so I may have more room than the fancy trucks

Did'nt anybody order the 6 cd changer with the infinity speakers from the factory?.

12-21-2003, 10:25 AM
i have the infinity speakers from the factory. They sound good and all but i think the bass SUCKS. I think i am going to have to find some amps to get under the back seats. I saw something on ebay for it.

i ordered the infinity changer, but wanted to add an amp and subwooferj ust for bass, not good. crackling no volume. also wasnt satisfied with the sound of stock. not close to the chevy's bose system. so i upgraded everything. the amps fit nice on the rear wall. out of way, can still put things under seat if i need to. had stuff under the seat in my 97 and i ended up spilling coffee on it. never worked right again. behind the rear seat also makes it undetectable, next to impossible to steal....just my thoughts

my stock infiniti blows away my buddies chevy bose system. I just need more bass.

I've been assured by a few folks that the amps will fit and after looking again, I am going to remove my seats and put them in place. My CD changer is going to go into the bottom storage of the center seat too.
Now I just need to find more time for the surgery. ;D

I just acquired a used but in great shape 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie SLT Quadcab (four doors, two open backwards). The radio has a tape player too but NO CD PLAYER. I'm trying to figure out if this might be the or an "Infinity Stereo System" because the previous owner told me it was (but I'm skeptical). I haven't been able to find any amps, steering wheel stereo controls, or tweeters. Can someone help me so maybe I'll know what kind of factory speakers are in there? Thanks!
