Can we talk about healights somemore?

I've searched for hours and now im so turned around i don't know which way is up. I've looked at everything for HID's to projectors even Projectors with HIDs. For everything i figured out i got confused about something else.

anyway aside from my rant can anybody clear up whats the best route to take on this. I have a black truck so i was thinking while i upgrade the lighting i should get some black headlights to match the rest of the smoked lights on my truck. I found Dynomite Diesel has the black headlights that come stock from chyrsler then i could just change out the bulbs and go that way.

Or i could go the projector way and get black headlights with better lighting all in one deal. I can't decided whats going to be cheaper and whats going to give better lighting and still have a clean look for the truck.

If i did go with the Black headlight that are stock from chylser which bulbs would be a good choice to replace them with. I've heard Nighthawks and Navar but i still not sure which will fit my truck and which will be a better buy.

Can anyone shine some light on my dim situation..... sorry for the lame pun.

thanks, Heston

This place has a good bit of information on lighting. The HID's are the brightest, but they have their cons as well. One of them is that you will have a beam that is not focused correctly and the other main one is that a lot of the light will stray above the cutoff line you want and other drivers will be blinded by the light. On the other hand, they are extremely bright. I've never used HID's in projectors, but I'm sure that would be much better than HID's in a halogen reflector.

As for the projectors, I have had them (and still have some for sale) and they seem to work well. Honestly, the 06+ model headlights are fairly well designed units -- in my opinion -- and you won't find much better ones out there unless you do a custom projector swap in the factory lights. The projectors with halogen lights throw about the same amount of light as a factory type setup, but the cutoff is really sharp and you can adjust them up farther than stock lenses thus giving you more usable light down the road. That is the idea behind using projectors to distribute the light.

If you want upgraded vision, I would use either the factory lenses or the aftermarket projectors and then put some positive(+)% bubs like the Narva bulbs. The OSRAM Silverstars are also great bulbs. You have to be sure they are OSRAM though; these are the ones imported that have no color tint/hue on the glass to steal some light. Also put on a Brite Box with Fog Light Control. That will keep the lows and fogs on with the high beams when you flick your high beam switch. Be sure to use premium bulbs (Narva, OSRAM, etc.) with the Brite Box though because I HAVE had Sylvania bulbs and cheap Xenon bulbs to blow up in my stock housing. When they blow up, a haze is left inside the lens and is near impossible to remove. Trust me; been there, done that.

Sorry this is a little long. Maybe you will find it useful.

yeah i've looked at *****'s write up and its awesome. Im just scared if i pull it all apart and screw something up then i still have to pay 500 dollars for another pair.

So the projector lights aren't actually much brighter than the stock lights? Unless you change out the bulb?

What im looking for i guess is a black headlight like ****** or the projectors that will give me the most amount of light possible (legal or not) and still be a resonable price. Any of that possible?

The projector's with good bulbs is definately brighter than stock especially when you raise the aim of them. I think the most amount of light would be projectors with HID's installed.

Jensen how much did this deal from the dealer cost you? I looked at the brite box on Genos and its like 200 dollar! Along with new headlights i wanna be able to run highs lows and fogs all at once.

Well i like the look of the Projectors so what all do i need to be able to run HID with the projectors. Is wiring all setup or do i have to get something to make it work. who makes a good HID buld for projectors?

Sorry for all these questions but im just really ignorant as far this lighting thing goes. any help or opinions are still welcome

dealer didn't charge anything, they can turn on the lows with the highs but not recommended due to heat (both in one bulb0

I am just spray tinting mine to get the grey look im am after. If you are wanting black but dont want to do the diy nightrunners the ones from dynomite are oem nightrunner special addition srt-10 headlights they just had popular demand due to their trucks running them so they buy in bulk and sale cheaper then dealer unless your like me and get the stuff at cost employee discount. The nightrunners will look 100% better then the projectors on your truck imo.

I just ordered a set of Night Runner's; the only thing I don't like about them is the amber strip on the bottom of the headlight. I plan to fix that with either some tint or some Nite Shades.

I would probably go with an upgraded bulb in the Night Runner headlights if I were you. I think that would look the best since you're after a clean look.

How'd you get the fog lights to stay on with the high beams? I've been trying to do this since I got my truck

I just ordered some black projectors with HID's for my truck. Christmas present from the wife. Should be here early next week and should have them installed by the 12th of Jan. Then I can report back and let you know how I like them. My eyes aren't what they used to be. I have HID's in my fogs and they work very well. I do 90% of my driving in the dark so I hope I'm going to be happy with the light output.
