Can someone take the time to teach me

I am new to this web site and am new owner of a 2002 2500 4x4 Larimine with auto trany and 4.10 gears. I am very mech. inclinded on gas motors but alot of the stuff I have been reading on here I have no idea what the hell you guys are talking about. Like VP's ,tps, lift pump,ect...
I know it takes awhile to learn everything but maybe someone can give me some info on where I can research the cummins motor and turbo stuff I know nothing about boost and pressure. I am really want to hop this truck up a little but affraid to even put a chip in it till I know a little more about the motor.

LP = Lift Pump. Small electric pump mounted on the firewall that supplies your injection pump.
VP-44= High pressure inhection pump on the 2nd Gen. trucks cp3 on the new(er) ones.
TPS= Throttle Position Sensor. Our trucks don't have a throttle, so it is really an APPS (accelerator pedal position sensor)
Good thinking on the modifiactions. First things first, you need to get yourself set up with some gauges. This way you have a baseline to go by when you do decide to "hop it up"
Fuel pressure is a major concern to us VP-44 guys, if you lift pumps dies, it could take out your injection pump ($$$).
Welcome to the site.

Fill out your signature (in "user cp" section), this will allow the other members to see your year truck and it's mods (or lack thereof at this point) when you post.

Spend "LOTS" of time here reading through all the forums...that's how I learned...you read some things and later down the road they may happen to you and you can use the site for reference...
