I have a 2004.5 . If I get my ecm reflashed with latest cummins/dodge software can I still use my edge juice which is for a 2004.5 ram diesel? Reason being is I heard you can get a reflash which makes the 2004.5 and the 2005 like a 2006 5.9. get what i mean? will i need a edge juice for a 2006 then?

also can they reflash ecm with my edge hooked up? be better to unplug it i guess?

I haven't heard about this flash making 04.5/05's like the 06. But in any case I would definitely disconnect the module prior to taking the rig into the dealer. You could call Edge to find out about the flash stuff. Post up your findings.

Be careful about getting the Didge flash. The newest flash for your truck will include the Backup and Beep the horn (Safety feature). I am sure this is not an option you would like.

Why are you getting a Flash update from Dodge?
What exactly do you think/expect that will be fixed or added feature?

Have someone you kow load a Smarty catcher and then return you to stock and you will have the latest Dodge firmware for your truck.

No, the injector connectors and the bus are different on the 06 and newer trucks. You will use the same Juice as you always have.

Your Edge will work just fine but make sure it is off the truck when it goes to the dealer......

Not true on the flash. You can flash the ECM and be fine. They have to flash the PCM and BCM to give you the dreaded HONKY. I had my flash done on the ECM so my cruise control High Idle would work. Works great. Think it is just a farce on making it act like a 06' as far as tranny goes.

I have read to many posts about users going in for one thing and coming out with the dreaded Honky... I don't think it is an easy thing to turn off once on.

Never had my ECM updated and never will. Never had the truck to a dealer...

Guys I use hate the horn honking stuff also. They knew exactly how to steer clear from it. Good news for me. I wanted the cruise high idle so I had them do the flash. All is well.

The Smarty would have enabled the High Idle..
That was another reason for me to buy it.

i adjusted high idle with my schools expensive DRb tool. i adjusted tire size with my edge. My dealer can reflash IF I WANT for $100. doesnt pay to buy a smarty. i dont want POWER i want fuel mileage. a lil added power for pulling wouldnt be bad. The edge gives me a #2 setting for towing.

Sorry to inform you but the Juice doesn't adjust your speedo. The tire size calc it does is so it will prodcue the correct speed if you choose to display it on the Attitude monitor. Your truck speedo will still be off though. The juice also doesn't do timing and that's typically where better fuel mileage comes from. That being said, you can adjust tire size in the truck's ECU using the DRB. If you have use of a DRB then you can do anything the dealer can do.
