can a gauge be fixed?

My old man is wanting to upgrade his gauges in his 99 cummins dually 6spd and told me he would basically give me the gauges in there now. which is a killer deal for me. its an isspro pyrometer and another. for the life of me i cant remember what it is. they both have white faces with blue needles.

The catch is that the pyro sticks at about 400. Is there a way to fix this? Or is it junk?

The dial (gauge) just reads the electrical input and is really the only moving part, so if it's sticking at a certain spot I would try replacing the dial gauge unless you can actually see the needle catching on something on the gauge face.

The IssPro pyrometer is a really sensitive, probably jeweled meter movement. Working on it is watchmaker stuff, but it's possible that it just has a bit of dirt in one of the jewels.

I had Isspro gauges on my 2001 and they are nice gauges. I agree the gauge internals are very sensitive and as the EGT gauge is so important that's why I suggested just replacing the gauge. Its unlikely the egt probe or terminal block would be at fault. Either way it's a cheap way to get a set of nice gauges.

Isspro stands behind gauges very well.
They replaced my seven years over the warranty pyro for free, didn't even want the old one back.
Wouldn't hurt to give them a call.

I was gonna suggest contacting ISSPRO about a warranty repair.

I have always had good luck with contacting the manufacturer for stuff like this, they don't want you going around bad mouthing their product so its worth it to send you a new one and get back to work.

Let the truck sit for a week, the gauge says about 400. Run the krap out of it pulling a large trailer, the gauge says about400. Sometimes when you know it should be higherand tap it it will go up some buteventually vibrates back down.

I emailed Isspro about it, They asked for a picture for proof. I sent the picture. I recieved a reply that basicly said "tough". They supplied a link to a site to buy a new one that seemed about 3 times higher in price than any other that I had previously researched.

That ticked me off enough that I am looking for another brand to replace them.

Any other recomended brands? Autometer?

Call instead of emailing Isspro before you give up on them.
Their gauges are probably the best on the market.
