What can I do???
I am wondering if you folk's could give me your advice here. I have a 99 3/4 ton quad cab, 24 valve, 5 speed tranny, with the 355 rear end, it has 182,000 miles on it. The only thing I have done to the truck as far as mod's go is an EZ. I want to know what I can do to the truck to make it perform better. When I put the EZ on it, it was like night and day as far as performance. I recently paid the truck off and wanted to take some of the money saved and put it back into the truck. I don't know how far I can go before I have to make upgrades to the tranny. I would like to go as far as possible and still run the stock tranny until it craps out on me, but I have no clue as to where to begin or what to do.
If you wouldn't mind would you please give me some suggestions?
I am currently looking into getting a set of gauges for it since I had to replace the lift and injector pump this week so that part of the job will be done.

Hello calls and welcome to the site.
Gauges are the best first step, so you are started in the right direction. The big question is how are you going to use the truck? Do you tow or is it a daily driver or both? Where do you want to be with your horsepower/torque? How much are you willing to spend?
Some general starting points would be an updated intake like the Scotty II and a 4” exhaust turbo back if you are going to be 400hp and under, or 5” for 400hp and more. I would also look at replacing the stock banjo bolts with high flow ones. You can get a lot of this stuff from the vendors that advertise on this site like Wildcat Diesel Performance http://www.wildcatdiesel.com/ . You can also go to the “Links” section and find other vendors.
And when you are ready for more fuel a set of EDM’s will fill the bill nicely. I got mine at Source Automotive http://www.protintnw.com/sa_dodgemenu.htm . You can read about them here http://www.f1diesel.com/page1.html .
Good Luck

The truck is used for both, it's my everyday comuter to and from work, I drive rite at 120 round trip daily. I also use it to tow with, I don't put a bunch of weight on it but every once in a while I haull a good load. I guess the hardest I push it is when I haul the tractor, disc and other impliments out to west Tx. I have a place about 2 hours SW of big bend and there are some pretty good inclines out there. That is the main reason I put the EZ on the truck, with it being stock it would lug in 4th gear and I didn't like that at all. As far as money goes I don't mind paying whatever it takes but I can't do it all at once, it would have to be one thing this time then something else the next and so on. That is why I was mainly looking for some suggestions as to where to start first. One thing I forgot to mention about the truck and I am not sure if it matters or not. I bought it 2nd hand with 50,000 on it. Whoever had it before me removed the muffler and went with straight pipe, they didn't upgrade to a 4" or 5" exhaust instead just ran the stock pipe straight back.
I do appreciate your suggestions and I will start looking at what you have told me so far. Thanks

My Idea driver is what I have now around 450 ish RWHP and a nice setup consists of
Gauges boost/pyro/FP
Intake Scotty II (is there a better intake)
I have a comp you have an ez I would get a comp
Injectors Mach's are nice
Turbo B series get my vote
Clutch South bend
Definatley fuel system upgrade the wildcat high flow for 150 bucks is darn tough to beat
You may also want to get something to wipe the smile from your face.

After replacing the lift and injector pump and reading post after post about the importance I stopped today and ordered the gauges. they will be in Mon. afternoon or 1st thing Tues. Thanks for your replies folk's I really do appreciate the help.
A 4" exhaust was mentioned, do I need to buy a kit or do like it has now and just run 4" pipe in place of the 3" ?
