I think you should take Dave's advice. It is sound.

Sounds like you want a Suncoast, so I'm guessing you spoke with them before Goerend. For me, I'd go with Goerend or DTT. Oh wait, I have a DTT.

Goerend is the man and cares about his work.
He's the only guy I'd let build my tranny.

Do what I did... Buy the FB suncoast and after it fails (after 8 months)and leaves you along side of the road you'll have plenty of time to call Dave and order yourself up a good trans waiting for the wrecker...
Like I said, do what I did...
Good luck,
Topper

Dave knows more about transmissions than most. Personally I would take his advice. I have nothing but good things to say about his customer service and product.

Question

So you are considering another trans maker because you feel the inter. shaft should be billet and they don`t feel it`s needed for your application...

Go with Dave G. I just put a full trans in and could not be happier, I did not go with a billet out put only a billet in put and billet triple disk TC, up graded valve body, etc. I have not done anything but normal driving, but let me tell you night and day diff between stock and Goerend................ Plus you may pay more for the Sun Coast. I know when I priced them out for the same stuff I got from Dave he came up about 800$ cheaper. I am also sure he did stuff Sun Coast would not... That was coming from a Sun Coast dealer by the way..

Well, I have not heard many that have broken an intermediate. I beat on mine with 600 hp daily for about 2 years, and have a stock intermediate.

You can see what I have in my sig. I beat on my truck daily and have not had a problem. I run beta 4.4 on level 5 and tow around 16k fifthwheel and not a problem in over 2 years and 40,000 miles. Goerend is great.

Stock intermediate is SOP. Billet in and output would be my choice....and was.
DTT will make same recommendation if you speak with them!
Suncoast would be my third choice!
