Cab lift/ fan problem
In the near future I plan on raising the cab, but have been trying to find the answer to the delima of the fan location. I looked at hundreds of fan hubs and none really worked.
The answer is simple, a little grinding, drilling on the hub bracket and possibly some brazing for fill on the back of the bracket.
The bracket bolts to the front of the block with four tapped holes, the two at the bottom are wider spaced. The head also has four evenly spaced holes. The top two holes of the bracket will bolt to the two top holes in the head with a rise of 3 1/4 inches, just right. A little grinding on the passenger side of the bracket for clearance and redrill the bottom holes to the narrower location. As I said it may take a little brass added on the back of the casting to give support. This will effectively raise the fan 3 1/4 inches and be at the correct centerline for the radiator with 3 inch riser blocks to lift the cab. Of course you will need a longer belt.
At a later date I will post a number for the right belt size. I have checked and they are available in 1/2 inch length differences. So it will be just to find the correct number and purchase that belt for a basically stock fan mounting.

You have probably already thought of these items but don't forget about the transfer case lever and your stick. You may have to possibly enlarge the cab floor openings, lengthen or possibly even tweak the bends in the stick a bit since raising the cab will place it higher up the stick where the throw is longer. I ran into that problem on an old mid 70's truck I had. Not a big deal to fix a snip here a cut and weld there but hadn't thought of it until I found out I had a problem. The brake lines from the master cylinder are another possible area as well as any other item that is attached to the cab and connects to something else on the frame engine or trans. Though on my old truck the only issue I had were the sticks.

Sometimes I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer. All this was covered in several threads regarding cab lifts. I did not see this coming. I was not trying to create another cab lift thread, they are sort of like oil threads, and automatic trans threads The one unanswered thing was always what to do with the fan, was just trying to help there as I have never seen a usable cure for the 3 inch misalignment of the fan. "Should I or shouldn't I" is not a good subject and it cannot be won regardless.
But if you should get into putting on a cab lift, here is a 3 1/4 inch remidy for the fan

Sorry Haulin for covering old ground wasnt aware. I know on that truck I had I just cut the bottom of the shroud off or at least enough of it for the fan to clear but not the mounts so that it was still steadfast. I never noticed any overheating problems. Though I have not looked close at he Dodge shroud to see if that is possible.

Barry the purpose of the post was to show that I had found a method to set everything up so that it works as stock only 3 inches higher. And with the parts that come stock on the truck, just a little mods that still allow it to be used back stock if needed.
No fan or a cut shroud is not acceptable for the heavy hauling I do in a hot climate in the summer. IF anything I would be adding to the cooling capacity not reducing it. On a long pull it is just adequate and barely that. Sometimes I do have to back off on a long pull, down gear and feather the throttle to keep it cool.
In the past there were some very long threads covering all this but there were a couple of owners that would raise the cab except for the fan problem, myself included. This method is cheap, some minor grinding and some drilling and then bolt up the higher fan. Mods that anyone tackling a cab raise should be able to easily do.
