Cab Fumes

Cab Fumes
DC sells a hood that has an operational air scoop for the 04 Sport trucks with Cummins (ala Hemi).
After studying others comments/fixes for the fume problem, I was wondering what the thoughts were on a hood change for more airflow to help dissipate fumes. I realize that it would have minimal effect when truck was moving slowly, but every little bit appears to help.
All told the hood swap would be in the $1100.00 range.
Comments/thoughts please. Thanks.

I think maybe we all just like the fumes... Maybe it's just the fumes getting to me though....
Which fumes are you referring to anyways? Exhaust or oil change fumes?
Personally I don't mind the exhaust smell and the smell after changing the oil goes away after about 500 miles. My truck actually quit making the fumes after an oil change until I started using the Rosmella synthetic. Now it's back...

Fumes appear to be unrelated to oil change. Came off AC and recirc. (using outside air) as weather got a little cooler, was halfway between oil changes. Have checked exhaust system, nothing obvious.
Problem is to the point that a half hour in truck will cause headaches. Checked with CO detector, it is apparently below detector threshhold minimum, but is cumulative depending on time. Dealer would not remove air intake grill and check plugs, I will.
I am very disgusted with Dodge and the truck, as I was making a long term investment in useable transportation, and this truck does not appear to be "fit for the use for which it was intended". I did not know I was buying a $47k (sticker) mobile gas chamber.
Thanks for the comments.

Well, there is a blow-by tube that hangs under the driver's side of the engine. This is where the fumes will usually come from. Get some heater hose and attach it to that tube and extend it back past the cab. This will usually get rid of most of the engine fumes you are describing. If it's exhaust then there may be a leak.....

Check the hood seal by the firewall to make sure it's intact. Always run with the heater system on fresh air and blower on at least low. This will pressurize the cab and keep fumes out.

Thanks for the help. I may have created some confusion: it is when I am pulling in outside air that the fumes appear. I bought truck in August and ran on AC recirc. and did not notice any problem. I will look at the hood seal and have already bought tubing to extend breather tube. I'm told there are cab air exhausts in the cab rear, any way these could be influencing problem?
I'm asking basic questions but I realy appreciate the collective knowledge and experience on this board, especially since dealers I've dealt with appear to be less informed than I am.
Thanks again.
