Ca. smog
Just tried to get my 01 smoged Sat. was going along fine right up to the last thing, it's called a MIL check. Thats a malfunction indicator light. Mine failed because 4 days before the smog I had to change the battries. When both batts are disconnected you clear the computer of all codes. Since I had only driven about 20 miles there was not enough data in memory. So heads up don't clear computer memory before smog. Now I got to go back after driving 75-100 miles and pay another 28.00.

I thought about another shop, but this guy didn't care about missing puke bottle or BHAF. It was the computer at the state that wanted more history. So will be going back Sat. will post after.

With the factory scanner there are 2 options, clear dtc's or clear and batt disconnect.Just clearing dtc's doesn't dump the monitors, neither does the Smarty

Its amazing what I hear some of these smog shops come up with. The only way I've ever heard it is there can be no codes in the system. Amongst all the mechanical requirements. I've advised this many times but never known if it helped, call the closest high performance diesel shop located by you and ask them who to take the truck to. You'd think they would know more than anyone.
