My ac isn't blowing out cold air. What should I do? Should I try to recharge it or should I check lines for leaks because the charge had to go somewhere. Please help suffering in hot weather. thanks

I would have a look around for any oily spots. On the condenser from rock damage and the front of the compressor from the front seal. If both these are dry I would throw some freon at it and see if it will hold a charge. Even if the compressor shows signs of a previous leak I would still try the freon first. If it does hold the charge you got away cheap, if not it could be the evaporator core. Don't just change it on spec, confirm it with a freon leak detector first.

Yep, all agree. If after adding freon the compress doesn't kick it, apply 12v+ to the compressor to force it on for a few seconds while adding more freon.
