A/C Problem!

I have a 2003 Dodge 3500 Dually and I am having A/C problems. I can turn the A/C on and when it is running for about 3 mins. it shuts off. The blower is not running and the A/C light is still on. I can hear the compressor clicking on and off so I know that is not the problem. I removed the blower motor to check for power and it is getting 13.7 until it shuts off and then goes down to .300 before it goes back to 13.7. I need to know were the power comes from to start the blower or what would shut it off.

There is a resistor mounted beside the blower with a connection. It sounds like the resistor may be going bad. Your blower should work on at least one speed (usually high) if the resistor goes bad. If it is not the resistor, it sounds like a bad ignition switch or connnection at the base of your steering column. It would save you a lot of time if you have a buddy to borrow the resistor from to start troubleshooting with. The resistor costs $70 here from my local dealer. In my opinion, it sounds like a resistor problem because you are showing a power loss at your blower. The blower on my truck showed constant power except when the ignition switch was turned off. Hope this gets you started in the right direction.

Most of the time it is a bad connection, burnt wire, or bad ignition switch. If it was a bad resistor it would run on High. Best thing to do is take the steering colmn cover off and inspect wires/connections going to the ignition switch. Just helped a guy here last week fix his truck. Take a look.

the 2 wires going to the ignition switch are burned. Go to your dealer and buy a new ingition switch, and then an ignition switch pigtail. It's a black 14 way connector to help with your search. then remove the switch, transfer all of the wires to the new switch except the bottom 2 green and pink wires. Those are to the blower resistor. Do all that and you will have A/C again!!
