A/C fan motor not working right

Hey all, yet another installment to my A/C saga. The A/C will not turn on or blow air until the **** is all the way over to full speed on the fan motor control. I'm told it does not work on a step down relay, but a resistor somewhere in the heart of the A/C system. What about a loose wire? Thanks Jamie

First thing to check is the electrical connections behind the HVAC control head and at the blower motor. If the connections look good then it's either one.

Connections to check. Yes, at the steering colmn which connects to the ignition switch. Since yours works on high you do have a set of dropping resisters and that is what sounds like is wrong with it.

Steering colmn, screws from underneath. Fan resistor pack is in the vent after the fan the last I remember. Can't miss it.

My problem may have been completely unrelated to yours....but thought I would share my experience here.

My a/c blower was running slower and slower, particularlly on the first 3 speeds. High would blow decent for a while then it would even start running slower. Sometime, I would have to reach under the pass. dash and "tap" it with my metal flashlight to get it to work.

Well I finally just bought another blower from the dealer and replaced it. Now it works great!!! I actually have to turn the blower speed down now while driving in the Texas 100 degree heat in my black truck after it cools a bit. I used to cuss my A/C but im very pleased so far this summer!
