A/C compressor cycles?

A/C compressor cycles?
My A/C compressor cycles on and off even when the air conditioner is not on. I know on most vehicle the A/C cycles with the defrost on to circulate the oil in the compressor but why when just the vent is on. Or is this just a problem with mine. And no the A/C does not blow cold air right now, but the compressor is cycling on and off. although I don't think as long as it should to produce cool air, it only runs for about 2 seconds on and 15 seconds off.

just recharge it.
If you can find someone with the gauges, it's 2 bottles at 12$ each.
mine has a slow leak, so I've resorted to just spending $25 each spring to recharge it.

It's supposedly for dehumidified heating so the windows don't fog so readily..
(secretly, I believe that DC did it that way so the A/C compressor will be running as soon as you start the engine, thereby making the air so much colder so you will appreciate the meager heater they put in our trucks.
)
