A/C Compressor Clutch

The clutch plate on my A/C compressor has broken. Went to the parts place and they say cant get just the clutch, have to buy a whole new compressor.$$$ There is nothing else wrong with the system, was working fine until the plate problem.

Does anyone have an extra clutch laying around? OR know where I can get one without buying the compressor? Tried to get one of a gasser truck but the shaft is splined on those, not a keyway.

Does'nt make sense to me that you have to buy a whole comp assy just to get the clutch plate Thanks.

Try brightauto.com I ordered one from them, haven't received it yet though. About 140 bucks after shipping.

I've heard the dealers sell them as well, but maybe a little more than brightauto.

We have 5 dodge diesels- 3 trucks have 1 spring broken each- 2 trucks have 2 springs broken on the clutch.

I think that is a parts dealer not knowing what you can do . I had the same problem or close to that on my 95. One of the three pieces of spring steel or what ever it is on the driven plate broke and the plate was dragging on the clutch. There is a company www.techchoiceparts.com 972-723-0112The guy there were polite to me wife on the phone and the parts were at my house the next day. I bought the driven plate. That was last year. No more problems good luck Jim

I called techchoiceparts a few weeks ago- they said they don't have them. Their online division, brightauto, has it. (supposedly) I got an email earlier from them that it was supposed to be on its way from the manufacturer to their warehouse, but had not yet been shipped. Hopefully it will be in soon enough.
