A/C Compressor bracket
A/C Compressor bracket
I need an A/C Compressor bracket for a 1993 5.9 6BT CTD. The truck is an inter cooled motor that has been de-inter cooled. I asked a seller on ebay who had one for a 90 for sale and he told me that one for a 1998 would fit. Anyone know if it will?
The gas trucks use a bracket but the diesel ones use a different compressor that just bolts directly to the block with 4 bolts. I see no reason why yours should be different, I could be wrong though.
I recently bought one from an 95-ish IC truck, for my 89 non-IC motor. Looks like it will bolt on fine. The only difference between an IC and Non-IC A/C bracket is the type of A/C compressor that is used. The Non-IC trucks (89-early 91) use a C-171 compressor, the 91.5 to 1998-ish trucks use a Sanden compressor.
I'm converting because the diesel C171 compressors are as rare as hens teeth, and expensive if you can find them. The Sanden compressor is readily available, I paid $145 for a reman unit.
There is a couple of the A/C brackets on E-bay right now, I saw them last night. As long as it looks like this you should be golden....
