A.C. clutch noise
I developed a squeek that I pretty sure is coming from the A.C. compressor area. (i used a stethescope). The pitch of the squeek remains the same whether the compressor clutch is engaged or not. If I shoot a little oil behind the pulley the squeek stops, but resumes almost immediately. Anyone else have this anomaly? Is the A.C. clutch replacable?

If what you say about the squeal is true then look at the tensioner bearing as well as the other idlers.

Took a chance; drove it to Maine 400 miles. Squeek remains the same, I think if it was a bearing it would have fried by now. Couple of "Mainers" said it was the "rivets" on the A.C. compressor pulley. They said the rivets loosen up a bit and rattle. If I put my good ear to the pulley it could be a high pitched rattle. Thanks for the advice, I will change the clutch.
