"C" in 8th position of VIN on 2002 6-speed HO?

According to http://www.dodgeram.org, the only two characters you should find in the 8th position of the VIN on an 01 or 02 should be a "6", for an SO engine, or a "7" for an HO engine. I have the build sheet for a 2002 HO 6-speed that contains a "C" in the 8th position of the VIN. Why, and what does it mean?

Well, I picked up an 02 today and it has the factory exhaust. It does have what appears to be a catalyctic converter before the muffler. Although, if it is a catalyctic converter, it is much smaller than the one that came on my old 97.

Do the trucks with the "6" or "7" in the 8th position also have a catalyctic converter?

ETA - The "Options Report" that I had printed up at the Dodge dealership shows "NAA", which is "Federal Emissions".

Those are resonators, no cats on 24v's.

Thanks. The resonator is completely hollow, with no exhaust flow restriction, correct?

I beleive they are. The biggest restriction I recall was at the turn up over the rear axle on mine. It got down to about 1 3/4".

My 8th digit in my vin is a "7".

Maybe that changed for the 02 model year. When I was searching for trucks I only looked at one 2002 and it was a 6-speed so I knew it was an HO.

mine also has the vin code "C", and i did work at an auto parts store and in the computer it listed the models "6" "7" and "C". and for instance i needed the sensor for the 4wd light on the dash and i ordered the one for the model 7 not knowing the difference and when it arrived it was a fatter sensor than whats on the "C" modeled trucks so there is something different in them but i also dont know what the official difference is
