#53 block, Fuel pressure 12-15 lbs, the Vp44 in the 98-00's is a little different then the ones in the 01-02. The main thing is the block and the fuel pressure the rest is just the usual stuff.

the 53 block is one to walk away from at that mileage, if it were 160k it might be different, but most guys see them fail by about 100k. since you are not likely gonna be able to check fuel pressure, be sure to have a little pocket liner to buy guages and another lift pump should the need arise....otherwise they are good rigs.

The dealer can tell you if the VP has been changed (which would include the bosch updates) by a dealer. Everything else has been mentioned.

I've been very happy with mine. The Pilot bearing is the only real faillure I've had besides one LP (which is now a thing of the past). I got mine at 98,300 and just did the 165K service. Runs great, uses no oil, oil pan is starting to seep again (enough to be damp, I tightened it once and it dried up). I get 21.5 MPG average. I might be able to pull 23 all highway. Rarely see below 20.
