hey im new on here im from washington state and i love the 1st gen rams especially the cummins powered ones and i found a decent one for sale its a 91 LE d-250 but it has some issues minor stuff like lil paint fadin a couple rust spots around the grillegaurd and bumper and around the windows in the corner, has been taken pretty good care of by an older gentlemen since new/ish, its a 5 speed and it comes with a matching canopy,running boards and a decent looking stereo system other that its pretty original. anyways i was wondering what yall think a fair offer for this thing would be.

How many miles and is it a regular or extended cab?

Pricing is all over the board, but ( as crazy as it sounds) the seller has more to do with it than the actual truck. I gave $2k for the truck in my sig (stock) but there are many beat up trucks for sale (some here) that make mine look like a show queen; these things are priced from $5k to $10k. See, some people have it in their head that the 12v trucks are rare collector trucks and are worth premium bucks no matter the condition. I talked to a guy recently about his that was for sale. Sounded like he was talking a out a Plum Crazy Purple 426 Hemi 'Cuda or something. Maybe one day...

trucks owned by older gents (since new) are diamonds in the rough

they generally are unmolested and haven't been abused

if you've found one with minimal rust and service records then you've found a fine machine

I do not think it has any service records.it has been taken decent care of but it has been outside under an open carport type thing, it has I would guess under 200k on it it was used primarily for towing a good sized camp trailerfrom washington to cali and vice versa. But the gentlemen passed away and his wife needs the money for bills. They were good friends of my grandmas and I'm sure I could get a good deal but I would like to give a fair price for it to help em out. Is there anything iu should look at specifically or pay attention to condition wise in a 1st gen cummins like this oh and it has the small jumper style seats.

Well an Extended cab, cummins, 5 spd, 2wd doesn't sound like a bad rig. I think the $3-4K price range is fair.

Yes, for learning stick. These trucks are almost un-stallable and will walk away in 2nd gear at idle. That's how I taught the kids to drive stick, a big parking lot, unhook the throttle cable and let them idle around stopping and starting while I read a book in a lawn chair. I almost never touch the throttle before the clutch is completely engaged. Exceptions are a big load starting up hill and even then it will usually walk away in 1st.

Keep in mind that the Getrag is a 'truck' transmission, not a Honda transmission, don't hurry it and you'll be fine.
