I am in dire need of new pads but want something thats not going to cause a ton of dust like my current pads do. I have heard talk of ceramic pads being the way to go but I cant seem to find any part #'s for my truck. Everything seems to be carbon mettallic or severe duty. Any one know where I can get Ceramic pads for the front and rear discs? Thanks.

I got the Hawk Pads (from Geno's garage) I have put about 100 miles on them, and they are very good as far as I can tell. Not much brake dust. I think they were a ceramic, metalic and kevlar(?) blend. Do yourself a favor and buy good pads the first time, or you'll buy another set after 10,000 miles like I did

I put NAPA ceramic/metallic pads on the last time I changed mine. They are the answer to years of headaches with the front brakes on my truck. I run the severe duty's for about 3 years with problems. Just be prepared to keep an eye on everything, because of the heat factor. The ceramics will wear the rotors out quicker, but they accomplish what you want.

I'm running NAPA too, very happy, almost no dust, and no noise. They've been on there over a year now.

Anybody know the part # for the NAPA's? Everytime I get on thier site they dont have them for my model year. Am I doing something wrong?

I asked this question when ceramics first came out but was discouraged by reports of rapid rotor wear. I'd much rather have a little dust and replace pads than replace rotors. Over 200 k on my rigs, original rotors never turned.
The stock pads are bad for dust but Carbo-Met pads produce very little and last a long time without wearing out your rotors. Brake expert Sam Peterson at 360-357-4958 M-F 8-5 pacific can provide these pads for an excellent price.

Porterfield has the Hawk ceramic pads or their own carbon-kevlar pads. They don't show our trucks in the application guide, but they have them. They will also make custom pads for just about any application or friction material. http://www.porterfield-brakes.com

I havent personally used them but have heard very good reports for the Porterfield Kevlar pads/shoes.

Apparantely, all the brake and steering components on the Ram is GM stuff. So you may even be able to do a rear disk setup if you can find the right p/n's.....
