Planning on dropping my tank tomorrow and installing my Vulcan DrawStraw and FASS fuel system after work. Wish me luck! Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Yeah, I got the draw straw that goes in the pickup module itself. and I've got the tank just about down to E, so it should be pretty easy to manuver. Got a monster head cold this weekend, so I think I'm gonna take a nap now, might have to finish everything up tomorrow

When I installed my fass I just went to my local hydraulic shop and made the 1/2 lines. Is your fass set-up come with filter and no filters? If your comes with filters, bypass the factory filter. I buy my replacement filters from NAPA. They flow better than standard fass and they have a lower micron rating and are cheaper. The water seperator is a different story, its a custom filter only a few shops have the filter available. Buy few as it help with shipping costs. The factory LP is junk. I had ran three LP and had about 50000 miles on the truck. I have 160000 miles on my fass now and still pushes 13psi at wot.

Before you push the lines into the housing for the top of the tank, lube it with some vaseline or something. It's a pain to try to get it. If you mount an inline filter, make sure that it will not be in the way of the fuel tank when you put it back up, or you'll have the filter hanging down from the bottom of the truck like mine is right now... didn't have time to fix it...

My lines where just click into position. Two tabs, on each line. I would avoid the suction side filter. You plug-up, your pump cavates. Yes bad stuff get into your pump but cavatatition will kill and starave your Injection pump. Its more money than a rebuilt lift pump. There is a suction screen on the bottom of the suction tube, thats free and came with the truck. If anything gets past that its not gonna kill your lift pump. I would check and see if its still good and in decent working order.

Well, got the FASS system installed and put my DrawStraw in the fuel module. All in all, it wasn't to hard, just time consuming. and your right, getting the lines on those fittings is a pain in the #*@! I even put a little bit of oil on the fitting before I put the lines on, and they still didn't wanna go on. Thing runs great, only problem I have now is it looks like I have fuel leaking from the elbow on top of the tank that the vent tube, or what ever you call it connects to. Its the hose that goes from the middle of the filler neck, down to the top of the tank. I never had that hose off the tank its self. I did loosen the hose clamp at the tank so I could rotate it cause my FASS supply line was against it, but I know I tightened it. Could I have over tightened the clamp and cracked that fitting, or did I maybe just overfill the tank? I usually fill it till I can just start to see fuel where the filler neck starts to bend up towards the bed. At first I figured it was just what fuel was left in the original supply line, but its definately collecting around that fitting and running down the outside of the tank.
