Busted Mirror Glass
I managed to smack a mailbox today with my passenger side mirror. I have the electric heated fold out tow mirrors. I should be able to get away with just replacing the glass. The glass part has two separate mirrors. Anyone know where I could get replacement glass other than the dealer. Thanks

Go down to your local glass place that does windshields. They can order you an aftermarket mirror. Just cutting a mirror to fit will not work. You need a mirror with the heating filiments in it. So dealer or aftermarket. Your other option is to find a used on complete

I busted mine on my chebby and my current CTD. I went to a glass shop, as someone has already said. the dealer told me cause they are heated I have to do the whole mirror. I called hog wash. Modern Glass in N ID replaced it for $20, yeah $20. the heat still works when I hit the button when fogged up. go to a glass shop. at the very least they can order it. Also, the mirror is only one piece, the convex part is part of the whole mirror, not two separate pieces.

Sorry to not update y'all...Baby came early & things are just settling down to a routine! Everyone is doing well!
So, a few things to be aware of when replacing the glass....
1) Not only are there 3 metal clips, there are 4 plastic tabs that the mirror mounts to.
2) Be VERY careful when removing the mirror. There is a circular peice of plastic that attaches to the back of the mirror you MUST reuse. Study it VERY carefully before attempting to remove. I'll take some pics & post later for more detail. The plastic slides off (the clips are tight!) the old mirror & slides/latches onto the new one. I broke one of the clips, but it was clean and I'm waiting for the glue to cure overnight.
3) The new mirrors have heating elements on both the flat mirror and the spot mirror. However, checking the impedance of the elements, the spot mirror is different enough that I probably won't connect it...the original had no connection.

TonyB, I need to replace the glass in my passenger side mirror and would like to replace it myself. How do you remove the glass from the mirror assembly? Do you have any pictures?
Thanks,
