Burning oil.
Went on a trip this weekend, about 100 miles, when I came back I had used about ½ quart of oil, I checked the level before and after the trip. The only thing different is that the engine was running a bit hotter than usual, and I was going kind of fast, about 2300-2500 rpm. I am curios if something inside the engine is wearing out faster than normal? I normally use about ½ quart every 3000 miles. I was told that the expansion of the cylinder walls at higher temperatures and rpms allows more oil to get by, true?

The injection pump holds about a half quart that drains back really slow. Unless you check the level after the truck sits overnight the dipstick reading will likely be off.
