Truck Won't Start After Bullydog Install
Installed Bullydog on my '06 CTD...Truck will not start...everything works inside and out, motor will turn over, but will not start...It did start about four times but only ran for about 3-4 seconds and then shut off, but now will only turn over...codes coming up that the keys are bad...haven't used my spare key since I bought the truck and that was just to see if it worked...and the truck won't start with that either...gonna be a long tow to the dealership Monday morning...

Yea...Im going to give them a call...just strange that the error code would be because of keys...I dont get it...talked to the local speedshop yesterday and they said to disconnect the battery and let it sit for a few and the computer should reset back to stock...not the case...rather annoyed...

Problem from dealer is
#1 VOID WARRANTY, PERFORMANCE MODS
#2 UNABLE TO RE-FLASH ecm, must buy new one and it still will not start after that.
#3 Call BD in the am for tech support, sounds like it erased the security key file to me which will not allow the truck to start no matter what key you use. They should have a solution and just forget #1 & 2 till all else fails then be prepared for #1 & #2
Just noticed you have a remote start, that might be part of the culprit, call the company that installed you remote start and maybe they can assist you also. I would call B D first but be sure and tell them about the remote start and if they can not get you a solution then try the remote start company.

So you are saying more than likely the ECM will need to be replaced even though everything is werking fine and the engine is turning over?

Not trying to be smart aleky or somethin like that, Just stating facts. Mossman act or not. Trying to reprogram the ECM and having a failuyre wouuld not be covered under MM act, you are reprograming the engine computer and if your effort causes a failure you will pay.....un less you have a very mod friendly dealer.
Now read the rest of the post.
Call Bully Dog in the AM. you will not be able to drive the truck till something is resolved so make the first call. Be sure to tell them what remote start system you have, then see if they have a solution. If not then call the company that installed your remote start and see if they have a solution, if not then the worst happens, must get it to you friendly local dealer and be prepared if he so chooses to charge you for it, you don't have much choice. In a long ago r post someone had a similuarthing happenand had to ahve BD call the dealer and worked out a solution to get the truck running but it took some time and dealer installed new ECM and couldn't get it to program and a host of other problems till BD sent a pre programed ECM and then the dealer re-flashed it to original specs. Don't remember all the details but was quite some time ago. Still think it is related to your remote start so start at BD and go from there. You will not be able to drive truck till this is resolved so don't sweat it till you have to.
PS, this is why I hate downloaders, 1 hickup and things can be toast. Hopefully yours is a simple problem but if not be prepared. And remember the Mossman Mann act only covers things that can not be traced back to causing the problem, like off brand filters, etc, not the fact that you downloaded a program that caused a problem somewhere. Maybe it is something wrong with your remote start? Just don't get bent till you have time to trace where the problem is.

Sad to say...But I think this may be my first and last Dodge Cummins...My first "Brand New" vehicle and I've had more problems with it than my last 2 used vehicles and I didn't take it easy on either of them, but I have babied this one........no explanation...

So you are saying that because you used a downloader on your new truck and it caused a problem, all Dodge trucks are junk . Good luck, if it had been a GM or Ford they are all taking the same stance with them. Mod them, and your warranty is toast. The new Ford 6.4 even states if you modify the exaust tip they can/will void your warranty. You have substantial mods, Big tires, 6" lift, cat & muffler delete, Intake???? I'm not meaning to knock you per say but with those mods I'm surprised that much of your warranty would be intact if you had to take it to any dealer. And yes there are many out there that do all the mods you have done, just be prepared to pay the price if your dealer decides to make your life miserable and he may not. You need to realise that you may have caused the problemsby downloading the program into the truck. I'm not saying that there aren't problem trucks out there, all 3 manufactures have them. Just look at the histrory on many of the Ford 6.0's, but you did the download, now try the suggested fixes and don't knock what you seem to have caused. I still think it has a relationship to the remote start so ........

What I said has nothing to do with Dodge Persay...I'm just saying Ive had a lot of problems with the truck...and yes I know I did the download...you are taking what Im saying the wrong way...I just dont like having problems (even if I caused them)...just wanted to attempt to gain power to turn the tires not to be a edited by admin...and I know my mods are nothing special, I'm 21, I'm not loaded...I've never had anything given to me...I was just trying to have something nice (in my mind/opinion)...I guess I should apologize for trying to do something I enjoy...What I meant by my comment was Im not going to try to have a big truck with a little power to turn my tires, I'm going to keep things simpler than they already are next time...sorry to offend whomever I've offended...
