Building a Toy Hauler from an older 5th wheel RV
So I've been thinking about puttung a small 5th wheel RV or camper on the front of a 30' GN and having a toy hauler for my Jeep.
Then I came across a 30' trailer for cheap but the only problem is that its a pintle hitch.
So could I chop the hitch off the trailer, strip the under carriage off of a 5th wheel RV and weld the two frames together? My concern is that the frame and hitch of the 5th wheel wouldn't be strong enough to support the added weight of the flatdeck and Jeep.
What do you guys think?

My Wife has a 2005 Rubicon, we have put it in the back of our 30' Ragen 5th toy hauler. Manufacturer specs says it only weighs 2700lbs.(According to the original window sheet).
The roof of the Jeep barely scrubs the bottom of the lower rear bed.
You have to be careful loading, the ramp flexes more than I would like, but has held up so far.

This is a bit different, I'd basically be welding and older 5th wheel to a flat deck trailer so as to have an open deck on the back for Jeep, there's no way my lifted Cherokee with full size diffs is going to fit INSIDE a toy hauler. Nor would I want it inside....muddy, dripping oil, fuel.....

the problem with an rv 5th wheel is the rv part is also a stiffener for the toung without that part you need to stiffen the frame nothing to keep it from
doing this /_ when it should be like this l_ or \_ if you get my point

Just went and looked at my '04 Rubicon sticker.
GAWR Front: 2200
GAWR Rear: 2700
GVW: 4600
You may be reading the GAWR(Gross axle weight rating)for the rear axle.
Anyhow, it should weigh in the neighborhood of 4,000 depending on the modifications you have made. General concensus is that the toy hauler doors are the weak link when it comes to putting a vehicle in there. The GVW of some of the haulers can handle it, but not the doors.
Do you have any sway issues? You are rear loading this thing behind the axles.
