Build Date of Aug 2005 - 10 Micron
Just changed my fuel filter to a Fleetguard 7 Micron filter. The truck has 2800 miles on it. (I know, I don't drive it a lot, I have another daily driver ) It will see more road use during winter. Anyway...
The build date was August 2005 and when I changed the fuel filter it had the Fleetguard 10 micron filter in it.
The new TSB states that Dodge/Cummins is requiring the 7 micron filter on all 3rd gen trucks. Supposedly a 5 or 2 micron is in the works for Fleetguard but only time will tell.
The point is - CHECK YOUR FILTERS - make sure they are the 7 micron. Dodge was releasing them as late as Aug 05 with the 10 micron still in there....

So what am I supposed to do with my existing stock of 10 micron filters (I bought the Geno's 4/2/1 Kit)? It seems DC has changed the rules in the middle of the game! I don't suppose they're going to exchange the 10 microns for the 7 free of charge.

Sure, I'd buy them if the price was right. I already have a supplemental 2-micron filter installed, so having a 10-micron filter in the canister doesn't bother me at all.
