I was driving my brothers 04.5 truck today & out of nowhere it starts knocking really loud. For the last week it has had a shuddering at low rpms & the problem has been getting worse. The knocking is really loud & alot of smoke coming from the exhaust even at idle. I believe a injector is stuck open. We hauled it to a Dodge Service garage today where my cousin is the service manager. He got his boys started on it right away & should have results tomorrow. I will post info as I get informed.

As I suspected....bad injectors. They have sent them out to be tested & should have results tomorrow. Crossing my fingers just hoping the engine wasn't hurt.

Usually, the injector fails to close & floods the crankcase with fuel, diluting the oil.
It sounds like you caught it in time. As a precaution, I'd change the oil.

My cousin is changing the oil after the injectors are changed. I hope that I caught it in time.....didn't want to run it to find out. I just hope that he gets it back before we leave for Aruba on Sunday. Highly doubtful!

When are they supposed to have it back together?

Tomorrow [saturday] is what he said, but you know how that goes. We are leaving Sunday morning for Aruba so it better be or it will sit there for a week. It was the #5 injector.

Well got the truck back from the dealer 2 weeks ago & still has problems. It lit the cel while leaving the dealer parking lot & po236 showed up. It shows up every time the truck is started & the thing runs rough. Map sensor changed & still doing it. The truck has no power even after the codes are clear & sometimes throws a overboost code. Plugged a boost fooler on & no help. I saw 4 cracks in the exhaust manifold & hoping that is the cause.
