I broke something
I went to the local old tractor pulls last night to watch some pulling with the old tractors. They had classes for trucks and I entered my truck in the 3/4 ton 4x4 class. Did my first pull everything went great made a full pull with no problems. On the second pull got about have track and I heard a sound coming from my transfer case. I backed out of it right away but I thing the damage has been done. I took the truck back to the pits could not see any damage to the transfer case but the sound that is coming from the case is not good. Everytime the truck is in 4x4 the transfer case make a awful noise like the chain is jumping. The noise is like a clicking noise I think I did something to the chain in the case. The transfer case is a 241 DLD tranfer case. Any input would be a great help. Can the chain be replaced without pulling the case out of the truck. Thanks for you time Garry

About the only real thing you have to worry about when you put the 2 case halves back together is the pick up for the oil pump.
Make sure it fits into it's slot and doesn't move when you put the case together and your good to go.
It doesn't weigh much so you should be able to man handle it on and off the trans no problem without using a jack. I found a jack to be to cumbersome so I just grunt it personally.

I would check the U-joint of the front drive shaft first to make sure you didn't destroy it.
Can't remember if it is a CV or not.
Much easier to deal with than the t-case.
Good luck with what you find.

Get hold of these guys and buy the master overhaul kit.
WAY cheaper than buying a complete transfer case. If your cases are OK, your already half way there being it's pulled apart, drop new guts in it and go.
I think it's about $600 US and it can be shipped to your door.
