broke fitting off in VP44 inlet!!!!

broke fitting off in VP44 inlet!!!!
I broke the fitting off in the fuel inlet of the VP44. Don't ask, it's embarassing! It is sheared off flush with the case. For anybody who has done this or seen it before, how did you remove it. I am going to try an EZ out, just wondered if there are other options.

What kind of fitting, and how did it break? As long as you didn't twist it off because the threads picked up, you should be able to use a chisel and try to rotate it out. Just try and keep everything as clean as you can when you do this, don't want to get any metal inside the pump. It'd try that before an easy out, as the easy out will remove material when you tap it in, and it will likely end up in the pump.

Well, Its the fuel inlet for the IP. I have an Airdog, so this is a 08 JIC / 12mm metric fitting. I had it screwed all the way in, when I lost my balance, put my weight on the wrench, and snapped it off flush with the IP housing.
I tried the EZ out. The metal is really soft so it just cut some chips out of it. The inlet is angled at the bottom of the housing, so the chips were just falling out. I used a mirror and a flashlight to make sure no shavings were in the IP.
Can't really get at it with a chisel or anything due to the angle and the way the piece broke off.
My old man says he has a trick up his sleeve, but I see myself removing the IP eventually.

The problem is the Airdog people decided to use aluminum instead of steel for those fittings, so it's just inevitable that it would break off unless you super carefully double wrench to remove. I used a big easy out on a t shaped handle and the fitting came out no problem and and no material at all got scraped off into the vp44. The thing gripped so tight as soon as I stuck it into the fitting, I couldn't believe how easy it was to remove. Your easy out must be too small or something if it's not doing the trick for you.

I remembered your thread and hoped you would toss out some input.
I got it out today. Got one of those spiral looking extractors. Worked like a charm. I thought that fitting looked like aluminum or something soft. Ordered a replacement from Vulcan, they list it as steel.

Well I guess it's good to see I'm not the only one who broke off the fitting in the pump. I was too embarassed to post. I replaced mine with an anodized fitting from a local speed shop that day.
Has anyone left the fuel canister in place? I left mine to keep fuel heater and water in fuel sensors plugged in. Do you have the filter in it or not? I have my filter in it and can drop the fuel pressure to 12 WOT. I think I'll be taking the filter out.

Everything factory is still on my truck as of now, its just all been bypassed. The airdog filters last much longer than factory, and i didn't want to lose any flow through those small factory passages. As it stands though, I could go back to stock in a few minutes. I have been thinking of removing the filter canister and factory LP for a claeaner look.

I did that before when I installed the hi-flow banjo bolts. I over torqued the bolt and the head came clean off. I lucked out, and was able to spin the body of the bolt out. Without a head on the bolt, and with clean threads, they spin easily.
