I am looking at doing brakes here soon. What type of pads do you recomend? What are the tollerances on the rotors and Drums? I will proabably have a friend that is a machinist turn them down for me, he ows me for redoing a floor.

Give Ram brake expert Sam Peterson a call M-F 8-5 pacific 360 357 4958 he'll set you up with pads that exactly match our trucks for the best deal going. Includes new pins, lube and anti-squeak for the price most charge for just pads.
I wouldn't turn the rotors unless they are scored, there is no reason to.
If they are warped replace them as the warp will likely come right back.

firestorm gives good advice.
Many times brake pads that are too hard for our rotors will squeak and also wear the rotor. But the pads will last.
One of the reasons I'm leery of lifetime pads, I'd rather replace pads than rotors.

I just put in some cheapies and didn't turn the rotors, the first and last time that'll ever happen. Sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard mixed with a rock jammed in the rotor. I usually go all out for brake jobs, & just slap myself for doing it this way. I've heard good stuff about the NAPA ceramix ones. I'll try those or the "z rated" from parts america(schucks/kragen/checker).

I was looking at the ceramic pads myself, but the guy at my local independent part store told me the ceramics (at least the ones he stocked) were very hard on rotors in the heavier trucks. He sold me on the carbon metallics. I put them on with new rotors, and so far I can't say I'm nuts about the pedal feel but they're quiet and they stop as well as any other pads I've used. We'll have to see how they wear.....
