I'm planning to replace the pads & rotors up front, as well as all 4 shocks on my 1997 Ex Cab 3500 Dually.

Just curious if you have any brands that you prefer, or prefer to stay away from? What stops best? What lasts longest? What rides best? Best bang for buck? Any part numbers? Online sources for good deals?

Normally I run up to the parts store and get the mid-level brake stuff and the mid-level shocks. But since this is my first dually, I'm asking questions here first.

On my 3500 dually, I found that the ceremic pads didnt hold up at all. the material seemed to be too hard and was tearing up the rotors. I went back to a Bendix semi-metalic and it is alot smoother up front with good breaking.

There are lots of threads on here about shocks.

Most people prefer bilstiens for shocks, though I haven't had any experience with them. I used the best warranty semi-metallics from AutoZone the last time I did brakes -- disks all arouind on mine. Rotors seem pretty true, and good performance so far.

For pads, you want carbon-kevlar.

Yes, they dust (like all brakes), but they don't eat your rotors and stop very well and can handle heat better than almost other formulations.

Look at Hawk and EBC.
